Tenants and environments

AgentOS is organised in three levels:
  • A tenant is your organisation. Everything you do happens inside it, and tenants never see each other.
  • A tenant holds environments (default, staging, prod…). Each environment has its own agents, models, guardrails, secrets, data and roles.
  • Every user and service account belongs to exactly one tenant. Someone who works for two tenants has two accounts.
If you have a role in two or more environments, the tenant block at the bottom of the left rail becomes a menu: use Switch environment to move between them.

Roles

A role is given per environment. Without one you have no access to that environment. A tenant admin manages the tenant’s users, service accounts and API keys, and creates environments. Being tenant admin opens no environment by itself: a tenant admin also needs a role in each environment they work in. Whoever creates an environment becomes its admin.

Manage people

Tenant admins open Users from the avatar menu (top right). The page shows the tenant’s users and service accounts.
1

Add a user

Click Add user, enter their Email and a Temporary password. The password isn’t sent anywhere: give it to the person yourself.
2

Give roles

Set their Role in each environment (No access, Member or Admin), and whether they are a Tenant admin. Click Save roles to change them later.
3

They change their password

After signing in with the temporary password, they choose their own under avatar menu → Change password.
From a user’s page a tenant admin can also:
  • Reset password: set a new temporary password. This signs the person out everywhere.
  • Deactivate: they can’t sign in until reactivated, and their sessions end. Their roles are kept. Reactivate lets them sign in again with their current password.
There is no delete: users are deactivated instead.

New environments

Tenant admins create environments from Users → New environment. You become the new environment’s admin; give others roles on their user pages.

Service accounts and API keys

Scripts, CI pipelines, schedulers and your own backends use a service account: an account with roles and API keys, which can’t sign in to the panel.
1

Add a service account

On Users, click Add service account. Give it a Name (lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, such as github-ci) and a Description of what uses it.
2

Give it roles

Give it a role in each environment it calls: Member to run agents and decide holds, Admin to also deploy.
3

Create a key

Click Create key. The key (aos_…) is shown once: copy it now. If nobody copied it, revoke it and create another.
Send the key as a bearer token on any /v0 request:
See the API overview. The service account’s page lists its keys with when each was created and last used.
  • Revoke a key: requests that send it are refused at once. A revoked key can’t be brought back; whoever used it needs a new one.
  • Deactivate the service account: all its keys stop working until it is reactivated. Its roles and keys are kept, and keys that weren’t revoked work again after Reactivate.
Never put an API key in a browser or a mobile app. Call AgentOS from your backend, and let the backend pass results (or a passthrough stream) to the browser.
Signing in, failed sign-ins, user and role changes, and key creation and revocation are all recorded in the audit log.
